The online ordering market growth rate of 40-50% annually is much greater than the growth of the entire e-commerce market shows the latest online market research study in Poland. This is due to the young generations brought up in the age of the Internet and modern technologies.

Almost two-thirds of all people ordering food online are between the ages of 15 and 34. Millennials (people born after 1980) know the world without the Internet, but for the so-called Generation Z, modern technologies are the basic tool. It is difficult for them to imagine reality without a computer, the Internet, social media or smartphones. The Internet helps them in all areas of life – shopping, spending free time, contacting friends and ordering food. Among people who have abandoned the phone and only order online, almost a third (32%) are users aged 15-24. The next group (26%) was aged 25-34, the next (24%) – aged 35-44. People over 45 are the least using the Internet.

It can be said that the younger generation sets a trend showing how food ordering evolves over the course of a few years.

You can also clearly see the preferences of Polish consumers regarding payments for online purchases – they are divided into age groups. Representatives of the so-called Generation Z (15-24), 78% of users from the 25 to 34 age group. Almost 71% of users from the 35-49 group and 51% of users aged 50 and more. Payment in cash is chosen by 47% of Gen Z at a similar level for the three age groups (15-24, 25-34 and 35-49). The popularity of mobile payments, such as BLIK, is also growing. Interest in mobile transactions is not shown by the oldest age groups – only 3% of Polish consumers choose them.
